Castle Lodge Independent Hospital

Castle Lodge Independent Hospital, located in Sutton, Hull, is a specialist facility dedicated to providing exceptional care and treatment for adults aged 50 and older who are dealing with enduring and progressive mental health disorders, Acquired Brain Injuries (ABI), cognitive impairments, or complex and challenging behaviours. We accept informal patients, as well as those detained under the Mental Health Act or Mental Capacity Act, including forensic step-down patients. The average length of stay is approximately 6months.

Castle Lodge has a capacity for 15 patients across two gender-specific wards. Bluebell Ward accommodates 10 male patients, while Primrose Ward has 5 beds for female patients. Each ward is designed to create a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals requiring support.

Each patient at Castle Lodge has their own furnished bedroom, complete with an electric profiling bed and an armchair. We encourage our residents to personalise their space by bringing in personal belongings and displaying photos on the walls. Creating a home-like atmosphere is important to us. Additionally, we have a beautiful enclosed garden featuring a patio area, seating, and vibrant flower beds.

The care pathways at Castle Lodge follow a structured process of assessment, treatment planning, intervention, and review. Each patient's program is developed by a skilled multi-disciplinary team, which includes psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, nurses, and support staff, all coordinated with support from our Mental Health Act Administrator. Treatment plans are created collaboratively with patients, their families, and community agencies to promote independence, recovery, and an improved quality of life.

A wide range of meaningful therapeutic activities is integrated into daily life, including occupational therapy, art psychotherapy, music therapy, and horticultural therapy. These activities are designed to encourage skill development, enhance well-being, and support long-term recovery.
