Billingham Grange Independent Hospital is a specialist facility in Billingham, Cleveland, providing high-quality care and treatment for adults aged 18 and over who are living with enduring and progressive mental health conditions, acquired brain injuries, cognitive impairments and complex behaviours. We accept detained, non-detained and forensic step-down patients, with an average length of stay of 18–24 months.

The hospital has capacity for 50 patients across three age and gender-specific wards. Grange Ward and Hart Ward provide care for male patients, while Wynyard Ward supports female patients. Each ward is designed to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for individuals requiring support under the Mental Health Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), or as informal patients.

Care pathways at Billingham Grange follow a structured process of assessment, treatment planning, intervention and review. Each patient’s programme is developed by a skilled multi-disciplinary team including psychiatrists, psychologists, occupational therapists, nurses and support staff, all coordinated with the support of our Mental Health Act Administrator. Treatment plans are created in collaboration with patients, their families and community agencies to promote independence, recovery and improved quality of life.

A wide range of therapeutic and meaningful activities are integrated into daily life, including occupational therapy, art and music sessions, sports massage therapy and Asdan-accredited learning opportunities. These activities are designed to encourage skill development, enhance wellbeing and support long-term recovery.
