Wantage Nursing Home

Wantage Nursing Home in Oxfordshire has a dedicated team to ensure our residents’ care needs are met and to enrich our residents’ lives. We provide nursing care, dementia, residential, palliative, and respite care.

Our heated conservatory overlooks our private garden that is full of bedded plants and flowers blooming as well as a wooden gazebo which is popular in our summer months and an outdoor heated pod. Our partnership with Radio Cherwell is a fantastic addition to our home as the presenter John Lant broadcasts a live show every week especially for our residents who can make special requests, messages, and dedications. The radio service has brought much joy to our residents, especially during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Here at Wantage, we understand the importance of keeping our elderly patients active. Every morning we have a routine called ‘rise and shine’ where we do gentle exercise to music to warmly wake up our residents. We also have Fizzy Fridays where our residents enjoy a glass of bubbly and nibbles which goes down a treat! At Wantage, we have our own hairdressing salon, where our mobile hairdresser travels to see our residents weekly. Our team is very dedicated to ensure our residents have a choice and a say in what activities they would like to do - instead of group activities many prefer one-to-one activities.

Our rooms are spacious with walk-in wet room showers and ensuites; for extra peace of mind, we have added an emergency call system in the bedrooms and ensuites. Here at Wantage, we have adjoining rooms and we are even able to make one room into a lounge area and the other a bedroom if they wish. At Wantage, we have an excellent chef, Michelle who prepares freshly baked cakes along with home-cooked meals for our residents to enjoy.

Wantage is a care home providing residential, respite, end-of-life, and specialist dementia care. Weekly fees at Wantage start from £1,438 but can vary depending on the type of room and the level of care required. We will work with clients who are eligible for local authority funding.
