Rushyfields Residential and Nursing Home

Rushyfields, located just outside of Durham, is a peaceful and tranquil spot in a small village. From our windows, you can see the top of Durham Cathedral and, being close to the town centre, invites our residents to the cafes, shops, and the local churches. At Rushyfields, we all care provisions, including residential, nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care. Our dedicated team at the home are here to be a Carer and a friend to our residents, ensuring that they are treated with compassion and dignity at all times, providing peace and mind they are in a wonderful care home.

The activities at Rushyfield were praised in a recent Care Quality Commission (CQC) report which quoted ‘People were actively engaged in a range of activities and had opportunities to access the wider community.’ We understand the importance of keeping our residents active in their Brandon community; this encourages them to remain active and independent. We also empower our residents to spend their time how they choose, and therefore no two days are the same at Rushyfields.

Our resident’s lives have never been so busy since moving into Rushyfields, which is an excellent highlight for those especially living with dementia, by keeping them active and present through activities and socialising. We have many entertainers who visit our residents and one-to-one activities provided for our nursing care residents. Our activities include a spot of pampering such as hand massages and our hairdressing salon. Local trips bring such joy to our residents, so we enjoy going to garden centres and even to the beach at South Shields in the warmer months.

We have constant high praise from our visitors, relatives, and even health professionals, which is so important to us. We love to see reviews and read all our home’s positive comments, making us very proud knowing we have a secure and safe home that enriches our residents’ lives and inspires them to carry on and have a fulfilled life.

Rushyfields weekly fee starts at £801 per week but will depend upon the complexity of the individual's care requirements. We may accept residents funded by their local authority, but this will need to be discussed with our Home Manager. As well as long-term care, we can also support people looking for short-term care and who require end-of-life care.
