Welcome to Melbury Court, a beautiful care home located in the historic heart of Durham! Our dedicated team is passionate about providing exceptional support for older adults with a variety of care needs, including nursing, residential, and specialised dementia care. We take pride in offering both long-term and short-term care options, thoughtfully designed to address specific requirements, such as those related to strokes, Parkinson’s disease, frailty, and hearing impairments. At Melbury Court, we believe in creating a nurturing and warm environment. Our beautifully decorated bedrooms are designed with comfort in mind and feature en-suite facilities, call bells, Wi-Fi, TV points, and lovely furnishings. Some of our ground-floor bedrooms even provide direct access to our stunning gardens, allowing residents to immerse themselves in nature! We encourage residents to personalise their spaces with cherished belongings and small items from home to foster a sense of familiarity and comfort.

Melbury Court boasts a variety of inviting communal spaces that encourage relaxation and social interaction. These include spacious lounges, well-appointed dining rooms, an activities room, a quiet room, and a shop. The home also features a hair salon, while outdoor areas such as the garden and patio provide peaceful and accessible spaces to enjoy fresh air and natural surroundings.

Our Wellbeing Coordinators organise meetings for the Social Committee and maintain a weekly events calendar that features clubs, discussions, and performances by local talent. Residents can take part in activities like gardening, baking, singing, quizzes, and arts and crafts. We also host community events, such as coffee mornings, for residents and their families. Additionally, we provide a minibus for day trips to nearby attractions like garden centres, cafes, and parks.

Mealtimes are an essential part of the day at Melbury Court. Our talented culinary team prepares three nutritious meals a day, along with a mid-morning snack and afternoon tea. Whenever possible, we use locally sourced, fresh seasonal ingredients to create our meals. We love celebrating special occasions at Melbury Court, such as birthdays, and our chefs will always impress with delicious spreads and cakes!
