Mayfields

Mayfields was one of MHA's first purpose-built care homes specialising in dementia care and supports 46 residents with residential dementia care. A groundbreaking ceremony took place in 1995 with Gerry Marsden from the 1960s Liverpool rock group, Gerry and the Pacemakers.

Mayfields Care Home was redeveloped in 2006. Three gardens were created in the grounds, each with a distinct character designed to stimulate reflection; Japanese, Cottage and (in line with a UK-wide MHA initiative) Sensory.

For our residents with dementia, it is really helpful if family members are able to support care-staff in putting together a Memory Book. Memory Books are a brilliant aide-memoire for residents and help them to share their history with staff and fellow residents.

Good nutrition and hydration are an important part of staying well as we age. Mayfields is able to support people with a range of dietary requirements, including specialist diets. Our Chefs do their best to tempt even the smallest of appetites and sweet treats are always provided to celebrate special occasions!
