Huntercombe Hall Care Home

Huntercombe Hall provides residential care, nursing care and specialist dementia care for up to 42 elderly residents. Our care home in Henley-upon-Thames is located in the charming village of Nuffield, close to the market town of Wallingford in the beautiful surrounds of idyllic Oxfordshire. Huntercombe Hall is a stunning Victorian Manor House sympathetically converted to provide a care home of distinction.

Huntercombe Hall has a unique and varied history. The Hall had a significant role during the Second World War, playing host to Rudolph Hess and being visited by Winston Churchill on several occasions. The Hall’s historic character has been carefully preserved following its conversion to a nursing home. In addition to beautifully appointed en-suite bedrooms residents can relax in the stunning panelled library and dining room or enjoy views of the gardens from the bright and airy conservatory.

Huntercombe Hall’s dedicated dementia wing has been designed to meet the University of Stirling’s universally respected dementia care standards. Stirling’s Dementia Services Development Centre is renowned as the world leader in this field. The Stirling approach ensures that residents are able to move freely around the home, with bedrooms and communal areas appropriately laid out and clearly signposted to minimise confusion or disorientation. Each bedroom features a memory box by its front door, where mementos from a resident’s life help to personalise their room and also remind staff and visitors of the individual’s life story.

Huntercombe Hall is ideally equipped to provide residential support for elderly people living with different types of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Korsakoff’s syndrome. However, staff never lose sight of the fact that, first and foremost, Huntercombe Hall is home to our residents.
