Bridge View House is a stunning period home with its high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and beautiful features that give a wonderful charm to our home. We understand it can be challenging to place a loved one in a care home, but we are here for peace and mind that your loved one is in the excellent hands of our carers. We welcome our residents’ relatives to the home as often as possible and welcome them to join the activities. Our residents are cared for as if their own family members make our care home extra special. The views from Bridge House have wonderful panoramic views of Tay Rail Bridge over the River Tay, making our location picture perfect. We are just a short walk from Tay Bridge Station and have excellent transport links.
Our residents enjoy watching events on the old bandstand dating back from 1890 in Magdalen Green park. Festivals, army, and fire brigade demonstrations occur here, where our residents can watch all these live events right from their homes. We have a wonderful community, and our residents love to explore what the area offers, such as the Dundee Botanical Gardens, The V&A Museum, and the Camperdown Wildlife centre. Many of our residents like to join the monthly dementia walk, which takes place at Camperdown. The staff at the V&A Dundee bring along memory boxes for our residents for the reminiscing activities.
At Bridge View House, we understand activities are essential to enrich and fulfil our resident’s lives here at the home. We have regular visits from a group of miniature Shetland ponies; those with high nursing needs, the ponies even fit in our lifts and visit our resident’s bedrooms, which is a great treat! These visits from the ponies are such a wonderful experience for all our residents; it lifts their spirits, especially those living with dementia. It’s great to see them engaging with our furry friends. As well as the ponies, we also have ducks, hamsters, and even lizards who visit the home when they can from the animal centre. Bridge View House also has a hair salon; our mobile hairdresser visits weekly, as well as a nail bar. Another popular event our residents enjoy is our high teas for our ladies at the home and gentleman games and a pint.
The local library comes to refresh our residents’ books and has even provided large prints for our residents with sight difficulties. The students from Duke Of Edinburgh enjoy visiting and chatting with our residents and the church of Scotland and the local Roman Catholic Church; representatives of the churches come to carry out services at Bridge View House. Our chef, Shirley, has been with the home for over 20 years and impresses our residents every time with her home-cooked food. Shirley is also a talented baker who bakes afternoon sweet treats for the daily afternoon tea.
