Amathea Care Home in the heart of the Cumbrian market town of Workington provides tailored, person-centred support to 40 residents requiring residential and dementia care. Our purpose-built care home is conveniently located in Wokington within easy reach of local shops, amenities, and transport services, and maintains strong ties to the local community.
The home offers 40 single rooms with ensuite accessible wet rooms and a dementia-friendly ground floor with direct garden access. Communal spaces include a cinema room, hair salon, quiet lounges, and a popular courtyard garden used for planting, relaxing, and social events with visiting animals. Our landscaped gardens with patio areas and outdoor seating mean all residents can enjoy the changing seasons.
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are a big part of daily life at our Amathea care home. We understand the importance of protecting residents' meal times, as good nutrition and hydration are essential to keeping well. All of our meals are home-cooked by our talented chef and kitchen team.
We enjoy a great selection of activities at Amathea including baking, singing, crafts, and bingo. On sunnier days, residents are encouraged to spend time in our beautiful, secure gardens and patio areas. For our residents who have religious beliefs, our dedicated chaplain enjoys leading church services.
Amathea care home prides itself in offering award-winning music therapy to its residents which has proven to alleviate isolation and the symptoms of our residents who are living with dementia. Outings to Allonby promenade, local pubs, and garden centres keep residents connected to the wider community, while quiet time in the garden or chapel offers reflection and peace.
Amathea is able to support both permanent and respite stays for people over the age of 65. If you are funded by the Local Authority or NHS please do get in touch to discuss how we may be able to support you. We aim to support residents to live with dignity in comfort and style through to the end of their life. Amathea is registered for residential care only, but our residents are supported with visits from the District & Community Nursing teams.
