Awel-Y-Mor Care Centre

Awel-Y-Mor Care Centre is situated in Swansea, Wales and cares for the needs of people with complex physical and learning difficulties as well as 15 elderly, frail residents. We welcome younger adults and aim to provide an environment which allows them to gain independence, stay well and develop essential life skills.

We are able to support people with complex care needs, including: acquired/traumatic brain injury, spinal injury, degenerative disease and bariatric clients. We have a team of Nurses and trained Care Assistants on-hand 24-hours a day to support our residents. During the day our residents are supported by an in-house Physiotherapist and Multi Sensory Therapist.

Our dedicated care team work with Key Workers and family members of residents to provide the right level of care and stimulation to individuals, allowing them to meet their individual goals. adults with complex disabilities following traumatic or acquired brain injury, spinal injury or degenerative disease.

Having a varied and stimulating activities programme is essential for younger adults. Activities are planned around the interests and personal goals of residents. We also aim to give residents access to new experiences and we are lucky to work with an award-winning sensory and laughter therapist.

Our Head Chef leads a team of kitchen staff in catering for the dietary requirements and individual likes/dislikes of our residents. Menus are modified for people with swallowing issues; the kitchen team are supported by a number of industry experts to ensure that residents are receiving optimum nutrition through their meals. Awel-Y-Mor Care Centre is part of the Barchester group of care homes who are partnered with Nutricia, who support Chefs with practical workshops and advice on creating modified menus.
