Westbourne Care Home

Westbourne dates back to 1859 and started trading as a Residential Care Home in 1984, so successful was the venture that the Home was extended with two new wings. The Home now provides residential care for 27 residents.

The Home benefits from three separate lounges and a conservatory. These areas provide the basis for pleasant day to day life with TV, music, reading and various other recreational facilities. Westbourne is constructed on two floors. Staircases and a lift access the upper floor. There is also a platform lift installed in the west wing of the Home for immobile service users. There are 3 communal WCs on the ground floor, which can be accessed by wheelchairs users and there are 2 communal WCs on the first floor.

The Home provides twenty five single rooms and one twin rooms, all have hand wash basins, five rooms have shower WC en-suite facilities and fifteen have en-suite WC facilities. There is a walk-in-shower room on the ground floor and 2 bathrooms on the first floor. One bathroom has an electrically operated high-low bath with an electrically operated hoist the other bathroom has a non-assisted hip bath installed.

All the rooms are attractively decorated, comfortable and adapted to meet the needs of the Residents. Residents are encouraged to bring in smaller articles of their furniture to personalise their rooms. All the radiators are covered, and fitted with thermostat controls. Many of the rooms also have television and telephone points.

A new modern versatile Nurse Call system accredited by Age Concern is in operation at Westbourne in every room. The Home is equipped with a Fire Alarm System.
