Minchenden Lodge

Minchenden Lodge provides care for 25 residents and is located just a 3 minute walk from Southgate Circus on the Piccadilly Line. Making the home extremely accessible to visitors and giving residents easy access to local shops and amenities.

Minchenden Lodge has an elaborate history, having being built by the Earl of Chandos. It is known that Queen Victoria and Prince Albert stayed here when opening the Colney Hatch Hospital. Later on down the line it was converted into a private hotel before being acquired by Scimitar in 1973 as their first care hotel.

The home retains many of its period features and unique character. There is both single and double room accommodation situated on the ground and first floor, all rooms benefit from high ceilings giving a heightened feeling of spaciousness. The lounge, dining room, staff room and kitchen are all within easy access of the residents rooms.

For our residents with dementia it is really helpful if family members are able to support care-staff in putting together a Memory Book. Memory Books are a brilliant aide-memoire for residents and helps them to share their life-stories with staff and fellow residents.
