Hargrave House

Hargreave House is impressive by anyone’s standards, it is an original listed building dating back to the 1700s set in three acres of land. The house was acquired by Scimitar Care, refurbished and opened as a 58-bed Care Hotel in 2001. Situated in the charming village of Stansted Mountfichet just 10 minutes from junction 8 off the M11.

It is difficult to do the grandeur of Hargreave House justice with its wealth of original features. Some of you may recognise the high ceilings and wood panelling as they were featured on the TV series ‘Lovejoy’ a few years back.

Within the main building is the old hall lounge, with a licensed bar, leading to none less than 3 separate lounges, the dining room and magnificent conservatory. The home is accessible to all with its two modern passenger lifts.

It is well worth visiting Hargreave House, please do come and see our magnificent Care Hotel and the exemplary level of care that is provided here.

Recommended Care for your Loved One My Father-in-Law has been a resident in Hargrave House for 3 years and although initially reluctant to go into a home, my F-i-L is happy, settled and well looked after in a respectful and helpful manner. The home looks after many residents with dementia and helps these individuals with memory games and daily activities suited to the individual's capabilities and hobbies. The staff are very friendly, caring and kind to the residents and make everyone welcome. When looking for a care home, my husband and i visited 15 in total and this home had an open door policy allowing anyone to visit at anytime. The home is lovely in both decor and atmosphere and there are daily activities for the residents as well as entertainment and trips out. The food is also very good with a 3 course lunch with optional sherry /alcohol (in-house bar), as well as the option of cooked breakfasts and an evening meal or snack. The home also puts together a detailed care plan for all the residents, with the help of their family, GP and carers, so that their every physical need, wish and want are catered for, as well as knowing how to communicate best with the residents.
