Handley House

Handley House in York opened in May 2019 and has all the finishing touches you would expect from a warm and welcoming home: luxurious social spaces, attractive décor, and freely accessible, secure gardens. All 66 bedrooms are en-suite, enabling us to deliver person-centred care dignifiedly and promote independence as far as possible.

All of our residents have their own bedrooms, which they are encouraged to make their own. All rooms come equipped with electric profiling beds and furnishings. Should a new resident wish to bring their own furniture, provided they pass health and safety regulations, we will do our best to accommodate this.

Facilities at Handley House include spacious dining and lounge areas, a vintage-themed tearoom and panoramic Sky Bar, a cosy cinema room with a popcorn machine and an on-site hair and beauty salon.

Whether you want to spend the day relaxing with friends and family, reminiscing, participating in one of our varied activities, or going on a trip to a local place of interest, plenty will always be going on to ensure you enjoy your day at Handley House.

Handley House's Activities Co-ordinators will ensure there is a variety of entertainment and pursuits for our residents to participate in. We will have regular large parties and events, whether for Valentine's Day, Christmas or a garden party.

Before a prospective resident becomes a resident at Handley House, our management team will meet with the prospective resident and conduct a care needs assessment. This initial assessment allows the Care Home Manager to put a full Care Plan in place and order any special equipment before the resident's move into the home.
