Bedewell Grange Care Home

Bedewell Grange Care Home is situated in the small town of Hebburn on the River Tyne in South Tyneside. Providing specialist dementia care to a maximum of 52 residents, over the age of 45. The home is set within 2 acres of gardens which the residents can enjoy all year round.

Bedewell Grange is part of Barchester Care Group and as such benefit from their national dementia programme. We want to provide our residents with the very best care, our Dementia of Director Care, Caroline Baker, is supported by dementia experts to deliver the very best in dementia care. Residents live within our Memory Lane Community are encouraged to personalise the rooms, the familiarity of sentimental items is often comforting.

Residents with dementia are also supported by Barchester’s very own 10.60.06 programme. The numbers are representative of the programme: 10 key things that must be seen in homes, 60 key components of the 10 key things and 6 other interventions to be used intermittently. As a result of the 10.60.06 programme, Bedewell Grange has seen an overall improvement in the following: well-being, appetite, reduction in falls, pain management and reduction in the use of calming medication.

Family members and friends are encouraged to be fully involved in the care of residents. Our care staff would be delighted to work with you to get a true picture of the resident including their life-history, interests and hobbies. The more we know about residents the better we can support them.

A home-cooked breakfast, lunch and dinner are the mainstay of life here at Bedewell Grange. Our Home Chef is supported by a team of experts to design menus that meet the nutritional needs of residents. There is always a ‘Menu’ for residents to choose from and meal-times are enjoyed in our dining room. Residents are very welcome to invite guests to join them for lunch or dinner.
