About

Briar House

Briar House is a 62-bed care facility, ideal for the elderly and those with dementia. Rooms are all ensuite and there is good wheelchair access. Talented and hard-working carers extend their expertise into day and respite care.

Friends and family are welcome at any time, hot drinks and snacks are always available and guests are invited to share meals with residents. The resident cook prepares three nutritious meals a day and the menu changes regularly to reflect seasonal produce.

There is an outstanding activities programme designed by Briar House’s Activities Coordinator around the resident’s interests, including: quizzes, sing-alongs, reminiscence therapy, indoor games, arts and crafts, baking and wherever possible trips out and about

My mother is a resident here and has dementia. The staff are brilliant with her, but since the arrival of the present manager, I have noticed moral is very low. All the activity staff have left and a lot of good carers also have gone. This is reflecting on the residents, who need things to do, and activities to stimulate them. At the moment this home is in need of a shake up at manager level.

Overall I like the home and think the staff do a great job with the facilities that they have. In the past they have occasionally not planned ahead for my fathers needs, but this has improved over time.
