2a Court Road is a large residential care home that provides 24-hour support for up to 15 people with learning disabilities. Although we are on one site the home is split into three self-contained houses each of which is home to 5 residents.
Each home consists of: a large lounge, 5 bedrooms for residents, a kitchen and a dining room and a large garden.
In addition, there is a shared area used by all three homes with includes an activity room and a sensory room.
The bedrooms in two of the homes are all on the ground floor allowing us to accept residents with some level of physical disability. The third home has stairs but there is a stairlift in place to help residents.
Staff at the home are experienced at supporting people with complex needs, including those with autism.
Sign-along is used to communicate with residents who use limited or no speech and staff also use objects of reference and photographs to aid communication and understanding.
