Greenhill Manor Care Home is a recently refurbished, 120-bedroom care home in Merthyr Tydfil, with a dedicated team providing exceptional standards of nursing and dementia care, and also care for younger people with physical disabilities. We have built strong links with the local community and have become well known for our fundraising efforts and award-winning achievements. We have been nationally recognised for the outstanding care our team delivers and are proud to have won ‘Care Registered Nurse’ at the prestigious National Care Awards and ‘Nurse of the Year’ at the Wales Care Awards. We are proud to have achieved an ORCHID award, showing they successfully implemented all 11 aspects of the Hallmark Care Homes’ dementia strategy.

Many residents describe Greenhill Manor Care Home as their home-from-home, and we’re always pleased when family members tell us how happy and settled their loved ones are with us. We have a dedicated Activities and Lifestyle Team offering a packed programme of regular activities and events, including visits from local singers and entertainers. We also have a kitchenette where residents can cook their own food with support from our highly trained team, and beautifully landscaped gardens they can help look after. Our gardens feature raised planters to help make gardening that little bit easier for residents.

Greenhill Manor Care Home has two dedicated cinemas where residents can watch films or catch up with their favourite soaps, a hairdresser for that important weekly hair appointment and a vibrant café where residents can enjoy the company of friends and family over fresh coffee and home-made cakes. Every one of our en-suite rooms has its own television point and phone points are either provided or can be arranged. Residents can also bring their own familiar furniture with them if they choose to. All residents are encouraged to live as actively and independently as possible and we regularly evaluate our activity programme to suit their changing needs and preferences. We support residents, and their loved ones, to maintain their relationships and keep their close connection via various digital platforms such as iPads and Facebook Portal devices, which allow loved ones to see photos, send messages and share videos. This means you can still communicate with residents no matter how far away you may be.

We understand how difficult it can be moving into an unfamiliar environment, so with the help of family members, we ask residents to fill in an ‘About Me’ book before they join us, so we can learn more about them and help them make the transition as smooth as possible. They can tell us about their hobbies and interests, likes and dislikes, their favourite foods, and how they like to be addressed. Anything that can help us understand what we need to do to help them settle in more quickly at our care home in Merthyr Tydfil.
