Thornbank is owned and operated by Greensleeves Homes Trust, a ‘not-for-profit’ charitable organisation providing care and accommodation for older people.
The charity’s aim is to offer high quality care, in a safe and friendly environment, which respects residents’ rights, dignity and privacy, and provides the maximum opportunity to exercise personal autonomy and choice.
The home is located in the leafy green Westerfield Road, conveniently located for Ipswich town centre and opposite the beautiful Christchurch Park. Thornbank provides a warm and inviting ‘home from home’ for 29 residents. The home’s 27 spacious single bedrooms and two double bedrooms are tastefully furnished and decorated and the majority of them are en-suite.
Residents are encouraged to bring in personal items such as pictures, ornaments and small items of furniture. A regular programme of activities is organised with fun and engaging pursuits provided daily including trips out to local places of interest using the home’s own minibus. Our chefs recognise that residents have differing tastes and pleasures, and cater for each and every one as an individual. All food is freshly prepared to ensure dining is a real occasion, residents regularly update the menu with requests and ideas. A choice of delicious dishes is always available with all special dietary requirements catered for.
On duty 24 hours a day, a dedicated multi-disciplined team, provides high quality care to meet individual resident’s requirements. The majority of the team have been working at Thornbank for many years, delivering the highest standards of care in a warm, safe environment. Staff work hard to ensure a friendly, homely atmosphere.

Care homes have mostly cancelled all but essential visits to the home. They are providing telephone-based assessments and placing controls on admissions. Home care & live-in care providers are still delivering care in the community but have a huge demand for support at this time.
