Humphry Repton House is a specialist nursing home which provides care for 45 people with moderate to severe dementia. If your relative experiences changes of mood they can come to Humphry Repton and be themselves, without being heavily dependent on medication.

The experienced staff team at Humphry Repton have expertise in caring for people with very complex needs, challenging behaviours and other conditions with dementia-like symptoms, such as Huntington's Disease and brain injury.

The staff at the home are expert at understanding people with dementia’s communication needs, and at supporting the full process of the illness. Those working at the home treat residents with respect and dignity, but give them back their autonomy as much as possible, as well as a sense of wellbeing. The home provides 24 hour registered nurse coverage.

The environment itself is engaging and involving. People are encouraged to interact with it, to pick things up, move them around, take washing in, sweep, clean, do DIY, rearrange… to remember all the ordinary tasks they used to do. They can do what feels natural and be themselves in an interactive environment.

With staff support, residents are able to move freely around the different communal areas of the home and to enjoy the two gardens, both of which have interactive installations. There are also three activity staff who provide a range of stimulating and involving person-based activities.

The philosophy of care at Humphry Repton House is to aim to provide a home for life, irrespective of adverse changes in mental and physical health. The home aims to provide residents with choice, respect and to treat them as equals. Care is based on the recognition that each person is unique.

Relatives are actively encouraged to become involved in putting together care plans. Milestones Trust also carries out relative satisfaction audits annually to ensure everyone is happy with the care provided. There are flexible visiting hours and the care provided is family-centred.
