At 100 Glasshouse Hill we provide support for eleven individuals who have an acquired brain injury. We aim to support individuals to regain their social, cognitive and independence skills, and to develop their confidence.
Individuals have the opportunity to progress from one of the rooms at the service to one of our independent flats as their skills improve.
Speech and Language, Neuro-physiotherapy and Psychology input are available as required. Programmes are carefully designed and integrated into each service user’s daily routine. Support is based on rehabilitation techniques which strive to increase independence, and progress is monitored closely using Goal Attainment Scaling, which provides motivation for the service user.
100 Glasshouse Hill is situated in the small but thriving town of Codnor in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Codnor is a short drive from both Derby and Nottingham. These provide a wide range of educational and leisure facilities, including colleges, shops, pubs, bowling centres, an ice skating rink and sports centres.
All service users are encouraged to create their own activity programme, which can be tailored to their interests and makes full use of facilities available locally.
The service has a secluded patio and overlooks a local park. The building contains eight en-suite bedrooms and three self-contained flats with private lounge and cooking facilities. All bedrooms have the option of ceiling tracking if required, and the whole building is wheelchair accessible.
There is an extra training kitchen where service users can be supported by staff to develop their menu planning and preparation skills. There is also a gym/physio room.
There are spacious shared areas, giving service users the choice of socialising or spending time alone. A diverse programme of activities is offered, tailored to individual tastes. These include outdoor pursuits, music, art and life skills workshops.
