69 Chantry Gardens is a small care home situated in Southwick, a village on the outskirts of Trowbridge. The home supports three people, two gentlemen and one lady, who have different physical disabilities and learning disabilities.
The home is a lovely bungalow and each person has their own bedroom, which is decorated to reflect their individual personalities. The communal lounge has recently been refurbished and redecorated with pictures chosen by the people we support as well as items that have been created by them, such as drawings, paintings and tapestries. There is also a quiet room where people can choose to sit and listen to music, read or do some art, an office, a kitchen and a large garden that has a stream running along the bottom and overlooks fields.
The small, friendly and diverse staff team ensure that the people we support live full and fulfilling lives with a large range of activities and new challenges to accomplish. Activities include in house activities such as art, film evenings, relaxation sessions, reading, music/karaoke and games and puzzles and out of home activities. The home is very close to Trowbridge which has a cinema, restaurants and shops. There are also swimming pools nearby and many pretty towns for days out, such as Frome and Bradford on Avon. We are close to Bath where we enjoy going for days out and shopping. In Southwick there is a small charity funded café which employs people who have disabilities where we go for coffee and cake and a look round at the animals that they have. We are also close to some other Voyage Care homes and we enjoy sharing activities with them, such as bowling.
