What I wanted for my mum My mother spent 5 years at Ashglade - until she recently passed away. She loved the home and all the staff. For me and my family we had complete peace of mind knowing that she was safe, well looked after, allowed her independence and loved. Her room was always kept clean as was the rest of the home, there were never any nasty smells throughout, as I had noticed in some of the homes I viewed. She liked the food and was happy with the variety. The member of staff who entertains the residents on 3 days a week is a breath of fresh air to them all, keeping them amused with a variety of games, singing and exercise, my mum loved time spent with her. I used to visit my mum a lot in the evening time to watch tv with her, it was never too much trouble for the carers to make me coffee, despite them being busy, which I was always very grateful for. I cannot speak highly enough of the manager and all of her carers who do a wonderful job caring for the residents, the manager is very approachable and if I had a query she always made time for me to talk to her. I am so glad that we found Ashglade, they always make a fuss of residents for birthdays which is nice because not all residents get visits from relatives and little thing like this make it feel like a home, I know my mum looked on it as a home from home and not an institution. Christmas Easter etc is always made special at Ashglade with presents decorations, local choir, entertainers. I would recommend Ashglade to anyone without a moments hesitation.

Excellent quality of care My mother has lived at Ashglade since February 2011 and is very happy there. The level of care is very high. The home provided a table lamp for Mum so that she could see to read. The home has 12 rooms, and because it is not very big you get a sense of the carers always being on hand when needed. There is always a nice atmosphere. The food is very good and Mum always enjoys meal times.

Caring Ashglade My mother has lived at Ashglade since February 2011, (moving from a house where she lived for about 64 years) when it became apparent she could no longer live at home on her own even with carers. My sister and I looked at several care homes (though my mother with a broken leg at the time was unable to visit) but it quickly became apparent that Ashglade was the best and would suit my mother admirably. There are comfortable rooms, home cooked food and some entertainment laid on but what really makes the difference is the quality of the staff - they are always caring, doing whatever is necessary and always finding time to talk to the residents and relatives.

home from home My brother had reached the point where he could no longer care for himself. Ashglade provided the care and support he needed together with a home from home atmosphere which was wonderfull for the residence and relatives. I was always greeted with warm welcome at any time of the day when visiting. The care given to my brother was excellent, nothing was to much trouble. Clinical requirements and promt medical attention always at hand and the staff clearly experienced in dealing with any emergency. I felt at ease with the attention and care given to my brother and always kept informed of any developments in his health. Ashglade provides a secure home with good food excellent care and that homely feel that makes all the difference.

A good choice My Father was living alone after the death of my Mother. He has vascular Dementia and had had a couple of falls at home. After a round of intermediate care, it was clear he needed more help and could not live alone. We read the CQC reports and visited a number of local homes, before deciding on Ashglade. We liked the idea that the home was quite small and there seemed to be a high ratio of Carers to Residents. in the 7 months he has been there, we have been very happy with the decision. He has a good rapport with the staff and they took the time to help him settle in. We have very good communication and we are updated if there are any issues. Visiting is very flexible and the staff welcome us at any time.
