At 16 Balnacraig Avenue we support seven individuals with a severe learning disability. The service has facilities to meet the needs of people with a physical disability, including hoists, specialist beds, a lift and a high-low bath. The spacious garden is wheelchair accessible. We can also provide respite care and support.
We promote each individual’s independence and enable them to exercise as much choice as possible on matters relating to their daily lives. This could include choosing menus, colour schemes for their bedroom and what to plant in the garden.
We aim to provide appropriate support to meet each person’s identified needs and recognise their individual ethnic, religious and social needs and characteristics. We take a holistic approach, involving aromatherapy and music therapy. Everyone participates in the day to day running of the service as much as possible and we try to make everyday tasks into pleasurable experiences.
The service is located in Neasden within walking distance of a shopping arcade, tube station and bus stops. We also have a wheelchair accessible vehicle. We are a part of the local community, stopping to chat to people in shops, the library and pubs or just when out for a walk. We always get a warm welcome at the local hairdressers.
