How long does the assessment take
How long you will have to wait for a medical and financial assessment will vary depending on the part of the country you live in. But given local authorities’ stretched resources – and a growing number of people being assessed for care – you may have to be prepared to wait for some time.
The assessments themselves will not generally take more than an hour of your time for the assessor to ask the relevant questions which they require answering, it is worth noting that they may need to speak with your GP also to collect all of the necessary information.
It is important not to rush the process, as your future needs and how they are paid for are decided during this time. Your local authority can review your assessment from time to time if your care needs change in the future.
